“you’ll eat for a week” (from stfucarnies)

“produce is cheap as fuck”
Where do these people shop? Because, let me tell you, my favorite thing to eat is fresh produce and it is most definitely not cheap as fuck. And I’m not talking Whole Foods stuff—I’m talking Trader Joes and Ralphs. I have nothing against Veganism, but insinuating that produce really is cheap is just misleading.
AND AND AND
Don’t even get me started on the “the salt content is ridic” part. Seriously? And your Ramen noodles, the main ingredient of which is probably salt mixed with salt and topped with just a touch of salt is so good for you?
In short: Be as vegan as you’d like. Hell, I’ll join you because most meat is disgusting to me in the first place, but don’t glamorize it by pretending that it’s a) cheap and b) eating ramen noodles is healthier than eating meat. Ramen noodles are a necessity, but nutrition wise they do not do anything for you.

That does not look like a well-balanced diet at all. Not to mention, that’s not nearly enough food for an entire week. That’s like 4 meals worth. Do you only eat one meal a day? Some people have very fast metabolisms and have to eat a lot or snack throughout the day to keep their blood sugar up. This is just not even nearly enough food for more than like 2 or 3 days maybe.

Do you realize how hungry you’d be all the time just eating ramen and tortillas? Nothing in that diet is filling. This fucker is an idiot.

this is the worst fucking meal plan i have ever seen.
ramen? that shit will fuck up your blood pressure so fucking fast. you cannot be serious.

Produce is not “cheap as fuck” in all places or most places
This meal plan is severely lacking from a nutrition stand point
Ramen is loaded with sodium, are you kidding me?
What about people who are sensitive to soy?
How the hell would I feed not only myself on this piddly shit plan, but the rest of my family as well?
Does this meal plan even come close to meeting the recommend daily calorie intake? It seems like if I were eating only this for a week, once a day, I would be fainting all over the place due to my anemia and due to the fact that my body wouldn’t be able to convert this into energy that could sustain me through the day.
No disrespect to vegans. Eat however you want to eat. If you are capable physically and monetarily to eat that way, more power to you! But please recognize that there are many people with dietary restrictions, digestive conditions, and other physical needs that a vegan diet ( and i really don’t want to call this vegan. this sounds like cheap junkfood. ) would not help or possibly make worse. Not to mention that not every one has access to fresh fruits and vegetables and not every one has the time to prepare vegan meals.
I do believe that we, as a society, need to change our relationship with food and strive more sustainable and healthy options that are readily available and affordable. But this? This is not healthy nor does it seem at all satisfying.

I keep seeing posts like this and it has made me wonder if any of my followers, particularly those with kids to feed, would benefit from me sharing some recipe posts of cheap but nourishing meals I make. Y’all know I cook every night unless it’s leftover night, and considering how little money we have to spend we eat very well. I mean, not every meal is perfect, but I do my best to keep our bellies full on real food with as little processed food or junk food as possible. I also have alternate versions of everything I cook, in case I have a little more money for better ingredients or a little less money and just have to get dinner on the table. So maybe I could help someone out there with some inexpensive meal ideas. What do y’all think?
